Travelling to Troon

Troon is actually incredibly easy to get too regardless of mode of transport. It benefits from a really good rail service but unfortunately there is just no way that we can schedule to allow travellers heading back to Glasgow to get the full set.

As regular followers of what we're doing will know we've been trying to get a Midnight Express back to Glasgow for WinterStorm since day one. It's proven to be logistically impossible but we are hoping still that we may have an extra train leaving Troon stopping at Kilwinning, Johnstone, Paisley and Glasgow on the Friday night. It's not a perfect solution but may allow those who may have been relying on the train to have an extra half hour. We'll keep you udpated if anything happend regarding this.

Taxi Pooling

One of the ideas that we are keen to follow up this year is the idea of taxi pooling. We are currently putting together the price lists with one of the local taxi firms with a view to providing a cost effective way back to various destinations in shared cabs. Once we have the details we'll publish an email link and you can let us know where you're going back to and how many and we'll see whether we can pair up destinations.

Getting Here By Train

Getting to WinterStorm in Troon by train is pretty much a skoosh!

The mainline between Ayr and Glasgow benefits from up to four trains per hour and is about forty minutes from Glasgow Central to Troon Station.

Troon Station is 1/3rd of a mile from the concert hall which is a five minute walk or a two and half minute run! Sober...

As far as getting here in time for doors we are suggesting that the following departure times from Glasgow are our WinterStorm Express journeys - we may even see if we can nominate a carriage for fellow rockers to meet in and we'll provide a meet and greet at Troon Station

Friday 29th November 2019

  • Departing Glasgow Central at 1234 arriving at Troon 1321
  • Met at station and ten minute walk to Concert Hall

Saturday 30th November 2019

  • Departing Glasgow Central at 1004 arriving at Troon 1051
  • Met at station and ten minute walk to Concert Hall for unveiling of Memorial Bench and outdoor acoustic (weather permitting)

By Car

Well apart from typing in Troon Concert Hall into Google Maps we won't add much more! Troon is linked to the motorway network via the A77/M77 and is around thirty five minutes from Glasgow

If travelling from the south follow M6; M74; M77 then signs for Troon via the A78 and A79.

From Manchester for example it will take four and a quarter hours.
