Clearly not our words but sum up perfectly what we were looking for when we apparoched The Quireboys!
The Quireboys were formed in 1984 in London, with deep links to Newcastle and found genuine success during the late 1980s and early 1990s, with their debut album A Bit of What You Fancy reaching No. 2 on the UK charts and their highest charting single "Hey You".
If you've seen The quireboys live you'll be buying your tickets straight away. If you haven't you should be. Troon Concert Hall will be bouncing to their high energy performances and there'll be a fair betting os singing along going on too!
By the time they arrive in Troon for WinterStorm The Quireboys will have releases their new album, "White Trash Blues" (on September 5) via Off Yer Rocka and before that an n EP, "Leaving Trunk", will precede the full-length effort on August 1.
Says keyboardist Keith Weir: "Ever since I was a kid I've loved the blues. I used to buy The Blues Collection magazine back in the '90s — I've still got all of those CDs. It's a genre that I've always loved and doing this album was a dream come true."
There's a genuine buzz in the camp as the veteran rock and rollers ready their most ambitious album to date. "It's never been black and white where The Quireboys are concerned," said frontman Spike. "There have always been shades of the blues. And now we've got the perfect chance to put a new twist on some old classics."
Welcome them to Troon!
