Mason Hill

WinterStorm are so pleased to welcome Mason Hill back to the event for their fourth appearance. The Glaswegian-based 5-piece first performed at the inaugural WinterStorm back in 2016 followed by slots at the event in both 2017 and 2021. Given their heritage at the Troon rock weekender, we felt it was only right that they join us for the 2023 Legends and Legacies event.

Following success for frontman Scott Taylor and guitarist James Bird in former band Black Velvet as teenagers, Mason Hill was formed in 2013 when drummer Craig McFetridge, bassist Matthew Ward and guitarist Marc Montgomery joined them.

The band unleashed their self-titled debut EP in December 2015 which was recorded at Motherwell’s Foundry Music Lab with Sandy Jones (Wet Wet Wet). Its release allowed the band to shine as promising rising rockers, and gigs alongside the likes of Airbourne, Gun, Dan Reed Network and Stone Broken only helped to enhance their reputation on the circuit.

A multitude of challenges resulted in fans patiently waiting until March 2021 for the band’s debut album ‘Against The Wall’. The record, reminiscent of the sounds of Shinedown and Alter Bridge, was met with a phenomenal reaction and proved to be a triumphant success. Following the pandemic, the band embarked on an extensive UK headline tour in support of the album in September 2021.

Throughout their journey, Mason Hill have rapidly earned a loyal following and cemented themselves as one of the UK’s brightest emerging talent.

Everyone at WinterStorm very much look forward to welcoming the band back to Troon for November 2023’s Legends and Legacies weekend.
