Mason Hill's frontman Scott Taylor had the WinterStorm crowd in the palm of his hand last year. They will return to the Saturday Main Stage at WinterStorm XVII to put on another incredible show.
Mason Hill has its origins in the Glasgow rock scene. Originally in a teenage band, Scott and James had success in a European battle of the bands competition, ‘Surface Festival’, winning the Scottish section beating 12,000 other bands which led to them playing the o2 in London.
Following that success they formed Mason Hill and after several personnel changes, Craig joined the band in 2013. The line up has gone through other changes until Matthew joined in 2015, and recently Marc joined allowing Scott to concentrate on vocals.
Mason Hill’s music is a mix of classic and modern rock, anthemic songs, heavy riffs, and melody. The band has been gigging for around two years playing at venues all over the UK, playing high profile shows including support for The Burning Crows, Falling Red, Graham Bonnet, Snakecharmer, Toseland, Marco Mendoza, and festivals including Ramblin’ Man Fair and Wildfire Rock and Metal festival. Going forward the band has a strong pipeline of shows stretching out until well into 2017.
Last years steps have been taken to significantly increase the band’s profile. Critical to that was the release of the debut EP, the self titled “Mason Hill”, recorded at The Foundry Music Lab in Motherwell with Sandy Jones producing. Fan and industry reaction to the release has been very positive with several excellent reviews which are listed below.
2016 saw Mason Hill go from strength to strength with growth in fan numbers, increased music industry interest and increased opportunities to showcase the band’s music. Exciting times lie ahead!
